Hidden Puzzle Games - Redrum Game Review
Rating: 4.5/5.0

Redrum is such an intense and creepy hidden puzzle game that you're warned on the download page that it is really psychological and intended for mature audiences only!
Redrum is part of the hidden puzzle games genre, but it is executed so well that it is a notch above other similar games. The beautiful art, the appropriately creepy and haunting music, and the out-of-this-world atmosphere it conjures give you a really intense experience. This is one game that will really give you goosebumps.
The story is about a little girl called Rose who seems to have visions and appears to be able to talk to dead people. Her recently divorced parents are understandably concerned about her well-being, but unfortunately decided to put her in the care of a Dr. Sigmund Fraud. Under his "treatment", Rose undergoes visions and nightmares that are displayed in all their gory detail on your screen. Definitely not like your typical hidden puzzle games!
Rose's uncle is a police investigator, and he discovers that Rose's incoherent ramblings under medication is actually helping him solve his murder cases. We thus embark on a murder mystery with our two heroes... solving crimes while searching for clues and picking the brains (literally!) of little Rose.
Each murder mystery in this game surrounds a method of murder that is depicted in all its gruesome splendor in the puzzles that you must solve.
There are the standard hidden puzzle games for you to solve. But each of them is tweaked to give you a more interesting experience: from locating shadows to looking for objects in the dark, and even looking for objects in x-rays and in a little girl's mind! And there's an added bonus of ghosts and skeletons staring at you from the most unexpected places.
Each murder in the story introduces us to different types of mini-games in addition to the standard hidden puzzle games. A race against time to find acupuncture needles, picking jigsaw pieces from x-rays and finding keys in an audience of ghosts are some of the highlights.
Each murder also introduces us to more of Rose's "imaginary" friends. They cause her to start mumbling incoherent words that end up becoming scrambled anagrams of clues that help her uncle solve the murders.
Very soon into the game, you'll start to feel really sorry for the little girl. You even see her divorced parents arguing about her medical treatment and her sanity.
If you're not too squirmish, and brave enough to experience a game that's not typical by any means, have a go at Redrum. For added realism and goosebumps, turn up the volume and turn off the lights.
