Mystery Files: Huntsville Review
Rating: 3.5/5.0

Mystery Files: Huntsville is the game that started it all! When the hidden object game genre was still in its infancy, MCF: Huntsville jumped onto the scene and become the bestselling online casual game. And it also put the whole hidden object game genre onto the radar. Its stylistic beauty and engaging gameplay drew in the numbers and got thousands of fans hooked onto the idea of scrutinizing scores of screens for odd items (like why would there be a watermelon in a barber shop?).
MCF: Huntsville stars you (yes, you!) as a rookie detective out to make your mark on the crime-fighting world, hopefully rising through the ranks one hidden object at a time. Each case you come across involves a crime that has been commited, and it is up to you to search Huntsville for clues that will point you towards a suspect and throw the crook behind bars.
Each case requires you to search through the various establishments in Huntsville for clues. These include the local barber shop, the diner and even a creepy science museum. The game requires you to find various hidden objects from each crime scene in order to collect enough clues to identify the suspect.
There are dozens of hidden objects in each scene, and the specific objects required in each scenario is randomly selected. This allows for lots of replay value and hours of fun looking for that elusive muffin in the diner.
When you have accumulated enough clues to identify the suspect, you download them onto your trusty Crime Computer (which happens to be a typewriter with a metal frame attached to it...). Each time you use the Crime Computer, you will be required to solve a tile-matching jigsaw puzzle to reveal the crime scene and identify the suspect.
Each case you solve will earn you a promotion on your way to become a Master Detective!
MCF: Huntsville is the daddy of hidden object games, and is definitely worth playing, if only to immerse yourself in a whodunit atmosphere in a quaint little village. And once you finish this game, the story continues in MCF: Prime Suspects where you will face your biggest case yet!
