Hidden Expedition: Titanic Review
Rating: 3.0/5.0

Hidden Expedition: Titanic is the game that launched the bestselling Hidden Expedition series. This game invigorated the hidden object puzzle genre by basing it on a setting of historical importance... and also by having the entire game based underwater!
On the 14th of April 1912, the RMS Titanic struck an iceberg on its maiden voyage to America, and sunk to the bottom of the Atlantic Ocean. This tragedy spawned many stories, myths and conspiracy theories, and even an Oscar-winning movie.
In this Hidden Expedition game, you represent a diving company trying to salvage artifacts from the wreckage of the Titanic for a museum and other interests. Due to the sudden accident that caused the ship to sink, a lot of valuable artifacts, information and jewelry were not taken by the survivors, and were left in the wreck at the bottom of the Atlantic Ocean. And this includes the precious Queen's Crown (ok... this last bit is fiction).
In the game, you search and salvage the various compartments of the ship in a series of dives. You only have a limited amount of time each dive before your air runs out. But it's ok... you might be able to find spare oxygen tanks in the ship to keep you going!
You get to play the classic hidden object game in various locations on the ship. You will be able to visit the cabins, the galley, the dining room, the dance floor, the engine room and many more exciting locations. In each place, you will have to salvage various items as well as priceless gems for the museum.
There are also a few exciting mini-games that you get to play in between the scheduled dives. You will be asked to search for the writings and belongings of certain celebrities (both real and fictional) who were on the Titanic when it sank. These celebrities include famous scientists, artists and even famous pets!
Another mini-game that adds a nice antique turn-of-the-century touch to the game is the restoration of old photographs that were almost destroyed in the wreckage. A simple puzzle like this takes you back to that era of top hats and tails, and sets the tone for the game.
This game has an other-worldly feel, with sharks and schools of fish swimming right outside the windows, and various lifeforms growing over rotting furniture.
It's nice to play a hidden object game that's not a typical detective-searching-for-clues game. Experiencing the Titanic in all its preserved glory is pretty unique and educational. Check out the demo video of the game. Who knows... it might float your boat.
